Usability of traffic data for visitor management

Zusammenfassung

Issues resulting from high traffic volumes (traffic jams, car park search etc.) are key challenges that destinations have to deal with in relation to overtourism and tourism acceptance. Traffic data can make a valuable contribution to the measurement of visitor flows and to (digital) visitor management. In many cases, car park data is already used for this purpose. In this short report we look at another data source for traffic data in Germany and present its usability for the measurement of tourist visitor flows.
