The German coasts, mountains and cities are visited by millions of tourists every year. But what is Germany’s position as a tourist destination in a global comparison, what is the travel behavior of Germans and how are the offerings and tourist infrastructure structured? The experts from the German Institute for Tourism Research at the FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences provide the answers in the second, updated and significantly expanded edition of the Tourism Atlas of Germany. Editors Bernd Eisenstein, Jule Kampen, Rebekka Weis, Julian Reif and Christian Eilzer devote around 200 pages to tourism in a total of eight main chapters. There is also a special topic on coronavirus and tourism.
The atlas is aimed at students of tourism and geography, employees in city and tourism marketing, tourism associations and other tourism stakeholders. It is also a fascinating read for the interested public.
We are particularly pleased that the atlas has taken the step into the world of images and sound by adding videos to selected articles and making them available for download on the website of the German Institute for Tourism Research under “Downloads”.
