November 2020 - December 2021
The German Institute for Tourism Research, in cooperation with the Forschungsgemeinschaft Urlaub und Reisen e. V., is dedicated to the positive and negative effects of business trips. The focus is on the physical and psychological effects of business trips on travelers.
Business travel is associated with benefits and functions for companies, the destinations and the business travelers themselves. For the German source market, there are hardly any quantitative, representative results from a demand perspective on the impact of high business travel activity. The first results on this come from RA Business 2019. This clearly shows that almost all business travelers (at least rarely) perceive burdens that arise for them in connection with their business travel activities.
The aim of the research project is to take a closer look at the effects of business travel on tourists in the area of conflict between personal benefits and burdens. On the basis of preliminary qualitative interviews, business travelers who had already been surveyed in the RA Business 2020 were surveyed again at the end of November on the topic of health and business travel (n = 1,005).
