Project duration

March 2023 – March 2024

Project description

Using secondary data, we analyzed the extent to which Germans’ interest in certain vacation activities is subject to changes over time. To this end, we conducted a longitudinal study based on data from the DestinationBrand study series. For 25 different vacation activities, a comparative analysis was conducted to determine whether the potential pool of interested consumers in the German market is growing, stagnating, or shrinking. The scientific value lies in the study’s comparative approach to various vacation activities over a period of time (from 2013 to 2022); the practical relevance stems from the importance of the market and demand potential of vacation activities as a criterion for selecting themes necessary for the competitive positioning of the destination.

Project goals

The objective was to examine the extent to which there has been a shift in the demand potential for various vacation activities among the German population over the past decade.
