Project description

The high importance of employee satisfaction in the tourism sector in Schleswig-Holstein is reflected in the fact that it has been selected as a key performance indicator in the state of Schleswig-Holstein’s tourism strategy for measuring success. However, measuring this indicator is anything but trivial due to the accessibility of the target group and the variety of work schedules. Furthermore, a lack of knowledge about the actual population makes it difficult to draw representative conclusions. In this project, a pilot study is being launched in collaboration with the IHK zu Flensburg to assess employee satisfaction among those working in the tourism sector in Schleswig-Holstein. To this end, a questionnaire developed by students as part of a teaching-research project during the winter semester of 24/25 will be further refined and distributed in the fall of 2025 through the IHK and other cooperation partners in the state.

Project goals

Objectives of the pilot study:

  1. Further Development of a Questionnaire to Measure Employee Satisfaction
  2. Testing the methodology (including recruitment)
  3. Deriving insights and recommendations for action regarding regular employee satisfaction surveys
  4. Contributing to the evaluation of the success of the Schleswig-Holstein 2030 Tourism Strategy
