New publication: “Resilience as a success factor in tourism” – Volume 2 of the publication series of the German Institute for Tourism Research published

Erich Schmidt Verlag (ESV) has published the anthology “Resilienz als Erfolgsfaktor im Tourismus. Beiträge aus Wissenschaft und Praxis zur Entwicklung von Destinationen”, Volume 2 of the publication series of the German Institute for Tourism Research. With the topic of “resilience”, the publication addresses one of the key issues of the future in tourism. In the face of ongoing crises, questions of resilience and adaptability have increasingly become the focus of attention.

With a focus on the development of destinations, this Volume is dedicated to this future topic with contributions from practice and science. The Volume provides insights into what exactly characterizes more resilient destinations and tourism players and how the necessary transformation of the industry can succeed. In addition to current practical insights from different regions, topics such as

the role of diversity,
Resilience in destination management,
the importance of citizen participation,
taking into account the perceptions of the local population and
Resilience in wine and hiking tourism.

The Volume contains the contributions of the Scientific instructors of the 5th Deidesheim Talks on Tourism Science, which took place from November 3 to 5, 2021. The Volume was edited by Christian Eilzer and Dr. Tim Harms, both from the German Institute for Tourism Research, and Manfred Dörr, Mayor of Deidesheim, President of the Cittaslow Germany Association and Vice President of Cittaslow International.
