New publication in our series: Tourism in a Changing World: Insights from the International Competence Network of Tourism Research and Education (ICNT)
The anthology *Tourism in a Changing World: Insights from the International Competence Network of Tourism Research and Education (ICNT)*, edited by Jan Velvin and Anne Köchling, is the fifth Volume in the German Institute for Tourism Research’s publication series and has just been published.
The global tourism industry is at a critical turning point. Climate change, geopolitical instability, and the rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) are shaking long-held certainties and calling for a fundamental paradigm shift. This book helps bridge the gap between theory, education, and practice in the industry and brings together visionary solutions from members of the International Competence Network of Tourism Research and Education (ICNT).
- Discover how the paradigm of regenerative tourism goes beyond simply minimizing damage and actively contributes to the restoration of ecosystems and the strengthening of social structures.
- Explore methodological approaches to futures studies, such as scenario planning and Delphi studies, to manage uncertainties and reshape the travel destinations of tomorrow.
- Embrace transformative educational strategies that equip the next generation with the resilience and critical thinking skills needed in a world marked by upheaval.
The book provides inspiration for researchers and students, policymakers, associations, and tourism professionals who want to actively and responsibly shape the future of global tourism. It is now available in print and can also be downloaded via open access at the following link: https://www.esv.info/978-3-503-24396-9.
