Lecture “Gardens – History – Tourism”
Christian Antz is an art historian and cultural manager. He has been head of department at the Ministry of Economics and Labor of Saxony-Anhalt in Magdeburg since 1998 and an honorary professor at FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences in Heide since 2011. He is considered the inventor of the “Romanesque Road” in Saxony-Anhalt. With 1.6 million visitors a year, it is one of the most popular tourist routes in Germany. On the more than 1,000 km long circular route in the form of an 8 with the state capital Magdeburg as the route intersection, the “Romanesque Road” leads through Saxony-Anhalt and connects 88 selected buildings from the Romanesque era. Since 2007, the “Romanesque Road” has been networked throughout Europe and is part of the TRANSROMANICA European Cultural Route designated by the Council of Europe, which links Romanesque buildings in Saxony-Anhalt, Austria, Italy, Spain, France, Portugal, Romania and Serbia.
As part of the SNSB – Botanischer Garten München-Nymphenburg lecture afternoon, Prof. Antz will give a talk on “Gardens – History – Tourism”.
