“Honorary Mention” awarded to Dr. Anne Köchling and Prof. Dr. Martin Lohmann

Now it’s official: The editors of the Journal of Information Technology and Tourism (JITT) have awarded the article “Assessing pre-travel online destination experience values of destination websites: scale development and validation”, published by Dr. Anne Köchling (member of the German Institute for Tourism Research at FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences) and Professor Dr. Martin Lohmann, an honorary mention in the 2022 Best Paper Awards.

The internationally oriented journal published by Springer Verlag is a highly recognized journal in tourism research (Q1 Journal) and focuses on the role of information technology in tourism. The award was sponsored by the International Federation of Travel and IT and Tourism (IFITT) and presented (in absentia) at this year’s ENTER23 conference in Johannesburg. The publication will be made available as an open access version on the journal’s website for the next eight weeks in order to give as many interested parties as possible the opportunity to read the article.

In their article, the authors developed – based on two previous studies – an application-oriented measuring instrument to record the experience value of travel destinations on destination websites before the trip. With the help of this measurement tool, destination management organizations can check how effective their experience marketing is with users and add a qualitative component to their website controlling. The results are currently being tested and validated in practice as part of another research project by the German Institute for Tourism Research with several state marketing organizations.
