DI Tourismusforschung General Meeting: Prof. Dr. Bernd Eisenstein Re-elected as Director

Today, the annual general meeting of DI Tourismusforschung was held. On this occasion, the members looked back on the developments of the past five years since the organization’s founding.

During this time, we have produced over 80 scientific publications and presented more than 120 specialized talks at various events. Our team now includes 21 university faculty members and five external fellows. Together, we conduct practice-oriented research in three key areas: travel behavior, the effects of travel, and the strategic development of tourism offerings.

A special item on the agenda was the election of the institute’s leadership in accordance with the bylaws. With the confirmation of Prof. Dr. Bernd Eisenstein as Director, we are taking an important step: We aim to continue the successful development of recent years while also providing new impetus—always with a focus on research, teaching, and sustainable tourism development.

Commenting on his reelection, Professor Dr. Bernd Eisenstein said: “I am honored and, at the same time, feel an immediate urge to take action. The election results underscore the great trust placed in me by the entire team and, at the same time, represent a commitment on my part. Over the next five years, I will work diligently to ensure that the German Institute for Tourism Research consolidates and further expands its scientific expertise. In doing so, I will focus in particular on research topics and projects that are innovative, application-oriented, and socially relevant. In this context, collaboration with our regional, national, and international partners will be of particular importance. The German Institute for Tourism Research will continue to be a defining, unique selling point of FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences.”
