At the German Institute for Tourism Research at FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences in Heide/Holstein, a
Consultant position (m/f/d) for research projects and projects in tourism with a focus on innovative research methods (1.0 position)
to be filled at the earliest possible date. The position is initially limited until 31.08.2024, with an option to extend the term.
The German Institute for Tourism Research was founded in September 2020 at FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences and emerged from the Institute for Management and Tourism, which was founded in 2006. In addition to the institute, FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences offers a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree course in International Tourism Management in the field of tourism.
You have
a degree in tourism-related studies or a degree in an economics or economic geography program
advanced knowledge in the field of tourism market research, experience in digital research methods is an advantage
Very good statistical skills and knowledge of relevant quantitative and qualitative research software, in particular SPSS and e.g. CNT-Light, MaxQDA, LimeSurvey, R
Good further PC user skills, especially in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, knowledge of geographical information systems and programming skills are an advantage
Experience in the management of tourism-related research projects as well as in the transfer of research results into practice and / or teaching is an advantage
Language skills German and English (fluent in spoken and written) at a scientific level
a strong conceptual and analytical mindset, a high degree of independence, ability to work in a team, initiative and resilience
a friendly, open-minded and self-confident manner
Your area of responsibility includes
Independent conception, development and implementation of application-oriented research projects in tourism in the three research fields of travel behavior, effects of travel and strategic development options in destinations and institutions
Management of research projects
Independent content processing of tourism-related (market research) projects incl. Creation of evaluations, especially with SPSS (quantitative approaches) and analysis methods of qualitative research
Representation of the Institute Director in some of his project and management tasks, in particular in the field of qualitative and quantitative research in tourism with a focus on digital research approaches as well as in meetings with project partners, press inquiries and the acquisition of third-party funded projects
Preparation of German and English publications, texts, chart reports and presentations for the publication of findings
Transfer of the Institute’s research results into practice, teaching and to the interested public
Conducting meetings/workshops
Participation in the external presentation of the institute and in knowledge transfer
