AIR Brief reports provide continuous information on (interim) results from the nationwide research project
The nationwide joint project “AI-based Recommender for Sustainable Tourism (AIR)” has been dealing with digital visitor management in tourism since the beginning of 2022 and is funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) until the end of 2024. The project is now almost halfway through its three-year term and many important insights have already been gained and (interim) results achieved in recent months. It is important to all project participants to utilize the scope and progress of the project and to make the findings and (interim) results available to all interested parties while the project is still running. For this reason, AIR short reports are published on an ongoing basis and can be downloaded free of charge from the project’s own Zenodo community page. The AIR short reports published so far deal with topics such as Point of Interests (PoI) in destinations and crowding perception. In addition to the AIR short reports, the new project website also collects other informative documents on the topic of digital visitor management. As part of the AIR project, the DI Tourismusforschung of the FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences is working with a large number of project participants from research and practice to research, develop, implement and evaluate AI-based methods for avoiding temporary overloads of travel and excursion destinations and generating suitable alternatives. Among other things, targeted visitor information and visitor guidance play a key role in this. The aim of the project is to make a contribution to more sustainable tourism development by equalizing visitor flows. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Naschert.
